How Much Is Invisalign in the UK

How Much Is Invisalign in the UK? Full Price Breakdown

If you have been quoted wildly different figures for Invisalign, you are not imagining it. Prices across the UK run from roughly £1,500 to £5,500, and two people in the same waiting room can be quoted £2,000 apart for reasons that have nothing to do with the practice being greedy. This guide sets out the genuine 2026 price bands, what pushes a quote up or down, and exactly what should be included before you sign anything. It is clinically reviewed by our principal dentist, so you get the same answers we give patients in the chair.

How Much Is Invisalign in the UK? The Short Answer

Most UK patients pay between £2,500 and £4,500 for a full course of Invisalign covering both upper and lower teeth. Independent survey work across a couple of hundred practices puts the national average a little above £3,200. Minor tidying of a few front teeth can start near £1,500, while complex bite correction beyond two years can reach £5,500.

Anything advertised well below that range is usually a single arch, a very short course, or a different brand altogether. They are not the same product, so compare carefully.

One thing worth saying plainly: a price you find online is a guide, never a quote. The only way to learn your figure is an assessment with a certified provider. You can see how we approach that on our page for Invisalign in Leamington Spa.

Invisalign Treatment Types and What Each One Costs

Invisalign is not a single product. It is a range, and the tier your dentist recommends is the biggest single factor in your price, because it sets how many aligners you receive.

Invisalign Express and i7

The shortest options, usually seven to ten aligners. Suited to small relapse cases, often people who wore a brace as a teenager and then stopped using their retainer. Typically £1,500 to £2,000.

Invisalign Lite

Around fourteen aligners across six to nine months. A good fit for mild crowding or spacing where the bite itself is already sound. Typically £2,500 to £3,000.

Invisalign Moderate

Roughly twenty aligners, with more scope to correct rotations and level the arch. Typically £3,000 to £3,800.

Invisalign Comprehensive

Unlimited aligners within the treatment period, which is why it carries the highest fee. Used for significant crowding, spacing or bite problems such as an overbite, underbite or crossbite. Typically £3,800 to £5,500.

Invisalign First for Children

For younger patients with a mix of baby and adult teeth, often used to create space while the jaw is still growing. Pricing sits close to the Lite and Moderate bands.

What Actually Changes Your Invisalign Quote

Six things move the number more than anything else.

Case complexity: How far your teeth need to travel decides your tier, and your tier decides your fee. This is the dominant factor.

One arch or two: Treating upper teeth only can cut the cost by a third or more. It is not always advisable, because moving one arch without the other changes how your teeth meet.

Treatment length: Longer courses mean more aligners, more appointments and more clinical time. A 24 month case costs more than a six month one for the same reason a longer build costs more than a short one.

Refinements: Most cases need a second set of aligners near the end to fine tune the result. Good practices include a defined number of refinements in the headline price. Others charge separately.

Provider experience: A dentist who has planned hundreds of cases prices differently to one who has planned a handful, and the plan is where the result is won or lost.

Your location: Central London carries higher overheads, though it is not always the priciest. Practices across the Midlands, Warwickshire included, tend to offer better value than the South East for the same tier.

What Should Be Included in Your Invisalign Price

This is where quotes diverge most, and where patients get caught out. Before you compare two numbers, check both cover:

  • The initial consultation and full clinical assessment
  • Digital scans and your 3D treatment plan, sometimes called a ClinCheck
  • Every aligner in the planned course
  • Attachments, the small tooth coloured bumps that give aligners grip
  • Review appointments throughout treatment
  • Refinement aligners at the end
  • Retainers once you finish, plus guidance on wearing them

Retainers deserve attention. Teeth drift back if nothing holds them in place, and a full custom set costs £400 to £600 bought separately, so a quote that excludes them is not a finished price. Our fee guide sets out precisely what our own packages include.

It is also worth asking whether shade or shaping work is bundled. Many patients want a small amount of composite bonding once their teeth are straight, and planning it upfront usually costs less than adding it later.

Questions Worth Asking Before You Commit

Ask how many Invisalign cases the clinician has completed, whether they hold current certification, and how many refinements are included. Then verify them yourself on the General Dental Council register, which is free and updated daily.

Be cautious with services that sell aligners without an in person examination. Straightening teeth moves living bone, and undiagnosed gum disease or decay can turn a cosmetic case into a clinical problem. A thorough dental check-up before orthodontics is not an upsell, it is basic safety.

Can You Get Invisalign on the NHS?

In almost all cases, no. NHS orthodontics is free for under 18s with a clear clinical need, graded using the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need. Adults are rarely eligible, and where funding is granted the decision rests on health grounds rather than appearance, judged individually. The NHS guidance on braces and orthodontics sets out the current position.

Even where NHS treatment is granted, it means fixed metal braces rather than clear aligners. Invisalign is classed as cosmetic, so it is a private treatment.

Invisalign Compared With Fixed Braces on Cost

Private fixed metal braces tend to run £1,800 to £3,000, so they usually undercut a comparable course of Invisalign, with ceramic braces between the two. The gap buys removability, no wires or brackets, and a plan you can preview in 3D. It also asks something of you, because aligners only work when worn 20 to 22 hours a day. If you cannot manage that, fixed braces may be better value.

How to Spread the Cost of Invisalign

Very few patients pay in one go. Most UK practices offer monthly plans, and interest free options over shorter terms are common, which is why Invisalign is often advertised at a monthly figure rather than a total. A £3,500 course over 24 months at 0% works out near £145 a month.

Two things to check. First, whether the deposit sits separately from the monthly figure. Second, whether the advertised rate is genuinely 0% APR or an interest bearing agreement over a longer term. At Avenue Dental we introduce patients to regulated finance providers so the options are clear before you commit, and our new patients page explains how a first appointment works.

Is Invisalign Worth the Money?

That depends on what you are solving. Teeth crowded enough to trap plaque gain a real oral health benefit from straightening, because teeth that are easier to clean resist decay and gum problems better. If the concern is purely appearance, it becomes a personal judgement about a result that can last decades with consistent retainer use.

What we would not recommend is choosing on price alone. A cheap plan that ends in a compromised bite costs more to put right than doing it properly once. For patients after a broader change, combining alignment with whitening or veneers as part of a smile makeover is often more efficient than treating each issue in isolation.

Invisalign Pricing at Avenue Dental Practice

We are a certified Invisalign provider at 2 Lime Avenue, Lillington, Leamington Spa, treating patients from Warwick, Kenilworth and across Warwickshire. Every enquiry begins with a consultation where we assess your teeth, gums and bite, take digital scans and show you a 3D preview before you spend anything on treatment. Your written quote then states the tier recommended, the number of aligners, the refinements included and the retainers you will need afterwards. No vague ranges, and no surprises later.

Patients closer to Warwick can find details on Invisalign in Warwick. Treatment is led by principal dentist Dr Bobby Bhandal, whose work in practice ownership has been featured in the dental trade press.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Much Is Invisalign per Month in the UK?

Monthly figures usually fall between £80 and £180, depending on the total and the term. A shorter Lite case over 24 months sits at the lower end, a comprehensive case over 12 months well above it. Always ask for the total alongside the monthly figure.

Why Is Invisalign More Expensive Than Other Clear Aligners?

The fee covers the aligners, the digital planning software, the clinical time to design and supervise your case, and every review appointment. Cheaper brands often reduce the clinical supervision rather than the plastic.

Does Invisalign Cost More for a Severe Overbite?

Usually yes. Bite correction needs more aligners over a longer period, which places you in a higher tier. Some cases also need small adjustments to the tooth surface or elastics, and both add clinical time.

Is There a Cheaper Way to Straighten Only My Front Teeth?

Invisalign Express and i7 are the shortest and least costly options, designed for exactly that. They suit minor movement only, so a consultation is needed to confirm your case qualifies.

Do I Have to Pay for Retainers Separately?

It varies between practices, so ask directly. Retainers are not optional, because teeth relapse without them, so any quote that leaves them out is incomplete.

Can I Combine Invisalign With Whitening?

Yes, and many do. Whitening is usually carried out after alignment finishes, so the shade is even across newly positioned teeth. Our teeth whitening page covers the options available.
